AYANO YAMAURA / Artist
Born in Kochi, 1991.
I observe phenomena that appear on the surfaces of natural things — lichens that resemble letters, forms that suggest human shadows, traces of bark peeling and spreading.
I am drawn to moments when life emerges as sign within the natural world.
I collect plants, extract their colors, and watch as those colors shift through oxidation and drying — moving between drawing and record. A painting is not a completed image.
It exists as a phenomenon that rises, briefly, within a relationship of material and time.
